Extra or abnormal body fat that might harm your health is what defines obesity. As fast food businesses become more popular and lifestyles change, obesity is becoming a global issue. Numerous ailments, including reflux disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, cancers, and cardiovascular disorders are all made more likely by obesity. In Canada today, one in four people and one in ten children suffer from being overweight.
A complex condition, obesity is brought on by a multitude of variables, such as genetics, environment, mental health, sleep deprivation, medical conditions, and even certain drugs you may be on.
Obesity is considered medoroga, a condition of meda dhatu in Ayurveda, encompassing fat metabolism and fat tissue. Ayurveda says that obesity originates from an imbalance of agni (digestive fire), malas (waste products), srotas (microcirculatory channels), or doshas (Vata, Pita, and Kapha), with kapha predominating. This accumulation of imbalances subsequently obstructs the development of tissues, or dhatus, resulting in a tissue imbalance that manifests as extra weight.
When in a balanced state, Kapha uses a variety of microchannels to nourish these tissues. On the other hand, when Kapha is exacerbated, the body produces poisons. Because of their density and weight, these poisons build up in the body's weaker pathways and obstruct them. Toxins build up in the Medovahi Srotas (fat channels) of obese individuals, which causes an increase in the synthesis of fat tissue (Meda Dhatu). Weight gain results from the body producing additional fat tissues. There is too much ama in the bodies of overweight persons. Toxins known as ama accumulate in the body as a result of poor diet and inadequate or ineffective digestion. Ama obstructs lymphatic, vascular, and other systems.
It is very difficult, if not impossible, to lose weight when ama is present, according to Ayurveda. This is the reason why, despite limiting their diet, some are unable to lose weight. Therefore, it's critical to address ama first before focusing on weight loss.
The first method we use at Sevayu is figuring out the right weight based on each person's unique body composition. Executive weight problems can be effectively managed by implementing preventive measures and periodically administering life-enhancing therapies to correct the doshic imbalance and favor an optimal level of fat metabolism. These problems are often linked to sedentary or irregular lifestyles, unhealthy dietary habits, and stress.
